- Does not like how large breasts look and want to change how their breasts look.
- Has no illnesses that may create an obstacle to having the surgery.
How is Breast Reduction Surgery Done?
Breast reduction surgery is planned according to expectations and breast structure of the patient. Surgery can take 3-5 hours depending on the procedures to be done. During surgery fat and saggy tissue is removed and breast is reduced to its ideal size. During surgery areola can also be reduced in size. Saggy tissues can be removed. Making the breast not only smaller but also lifted. On breast reduction surgeries different methods can be applied depending on the age and expectations of the patient. Reversed T or vertical (a straight line) incisions can be made.
Does Breast Reduction Surgery Leave A Scar?
Because breast reduction is done surgically an incision mark can remain on the area. When vertical incisions are done a thin line reaching down from the nipple area. On reverse T shaped incisions, a faded T shaped scar may be apparent. Immediately after the surgery scarring may be dark and prominent but with time it gradually fades away and becomes invisible to the eye. Because the faded line remains under bras or bikinis it can not be detected when looked from the outside.
Can You Breast Feed After Breast Reduction Surgery?
Breast reduction surgery may affect breastfeeding function. This depends on the amount of tissue and fat removed from the patient. If milk glands are protected during surgery breastfeeding can continue. But if to get the targeted results the removal of the milk glands is compulsory breastfeeding can be affected. That is why patients considering breast reduction surgery should consult their doctor before surgery to plan the surgery accordingly.
Healing Process After Breast Reduction Surgery?
One week after the breast reduction surgery patients can recover and can continue their work and social lives. 2 weeks after the surgery swelling and bruising can still be apparent, and this is normal. These complaints start to lessen over time. During this process patients should be careful about their hygiene and should avoid publicly used saunas, sea, and pools. After breast reduction surgery to get the ideal shape of the breast’s patients may use special, supportive, and protective bras and garments.
Approximately 1 month after breast reduction surgery patients can start doing low intensity exercises.
